A former top fund-raiser for politicians in Pennsylvania and New Jersey admitted a misdemeanor campaign violation yesterday, part of a plea deal in a case that involved illegal contributions to the governor of Puerto Rico.

Robert M. Feldman, 61, of Philadelphia, admitted that he helped conceal the source of $6,000 in contributions to then-Gov. Aníbal Acevedo Vilá, who was running an unsuccessful campaign for reelection.

Federal prosecutors dismissed a felony charge against Feldman, who was ordered to pay a $6,000 fine by U.S. District Judge Stewart Dalzell. Feldman received no jail time or probation.

A jury in March acquitted Acevedo Vilá and his legal adviser of all counts. Eight other associates pleaded guilty in the case, mostly to minor violations. Charges are still pending against Cándido Negrón Mella, a Delaware County dentist who reimbursed Feldman. - Joseph Tanfani
