A 21-year-old Bucks County man was killed early yesterday after falling 200 feet into a quarry during a birthday party at a nearby house in Doylestown Township.

An autopsy for Eric Gotwols of Plumstead Township will be conducted today, Bucks County Coroner Joseph Campbell said. Gotwols went with a friend to the party at a home backing up to the Edison Quarry near Route 611, Campbell said, and was last seen there about 1:30 a.m.

When Gotwols failed to return yesterday morning to his parents' home, a search began. Quarry officials were asked to check their property, and found Gotwols' body at 2:30 p.m., Campbell said. Neither the quarry nor the homeowner had a fence blocking the yard from the quarry property, he said. - Larry King
