Camden man pleads guilty to role in drug deal

A Camden man yesterday pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges, admitting he acted as a broker for a friend who tried to buy 30 kilos of cocaine during an undercover sting.

Angelo Soldevila, 65, who appeared in U.S. District Court, faces up to 20 years in prison.

By pleading guilty, however, Soldevila hopes to receive a significantly lighter sentence, authorities said. A conviction at trial for Soldevila, who has a criminal history that includes drug offenses, could have led to a life sentence.

Soldevila appeared before U.S. District Judge Renee Bumb, who accepted his guilty plea and set sentencing for April 9.

In November, a confidential informant met with Soldevila to discuss buying cocaine, according to a compliant filed in federal court. Soldevila told the informant his "nephew" would invest.

The nephew was really Daniel Vincenty, who had been living with Soldevila's daughter in Cherry Hill. Vincenty was arrested in March, when he showed up at Cherry Hill Mall with $150,000 as an initial payment for 30 kilos, records show. Soldevila was arrested the next day.
