Officer on bike hit, dragged

A Philadelphia bicycle patrol officer was hit and dragged by a car in the city's Brewerytown section Friday night. The incident happened in the 3000 block of West Girard Avenue around 8 p.m., police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore said.

The incident happened in the 3000 block of West Girard Avenue around 8 p.m., police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore said.

Other officers fired at the driver of the car, a 27-year-old man. He was not hit but he was arrested, Vanore said.

Vanore said the injured officer was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was in stable condition with leg and arm injuries.
