Philly violence kills 5, injures 3 over 23 hours

The bloodiest incident claimed the life of a Dresher woman and hospitalized two Philadelphia men who were sitting in an Olney bar. A gunman entered J&J's Lounge, 200 W. Duncannon Ave., shortly after 11:30 p.m. Thursday and began firing into the crowd, police said.

All three were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where Leslie Delzingaro, 45, was pronounced dead at 11:58 p.m. The men - a 28-year-old with a wound to the lower back and a 29-year-old shot in a hand and shoulder - were in stable condition, police said.

About 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Derrick Holley, 21, and another man were standing in the 4900 block of Marvine Street in Logan when an unidentified man approached and began shooting. Holley was struck in the chest. The other victim, 34, was wounded in the back and buttocks. Holley was pronounced dead at Einstein at 2:20 p.m., police said.

On Friday morning, two other people were killed by gunfire.

Shortly before 4 a.m., a man was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot once in the head and twice in the back at Seventh and Sedgley Streets in North Philadelphia. Police were withholding his name pending notification of his family.

About 5 a.m., Kevin Lonergan, 28, was shot inside his residence in the 2600 block of East Toronto Street in Port Richmond. He died of a gunshot wound to the back at Temple University Hospital at 5:16 a.m.

Also, about 12:30 p.m. Friday, police found a 35-year-old man who had been beaten and left to die on the street in the 700 block of West Susquehanna Avenue in North Philadelphia. Police said they did not know of a motive and had no suspects in the slaying.
