Police shot two males in an exchange of gunfire and apprehended a third who tried to hide along train tracks Thursday night in Kensington, police said.

Police shot two males in an exchange of gunfire and apprehended a third who tried to hide along train tracks Thursday night in Kensington, police said.

At 8:35, police responded to a report of a person with a gun in the 2000 block of East Somerset Street, police said. A group of males fled in a vehicle and fired at police. At least one officer returned fire and struck two of the males in the 2000 block of East Auburn Street, police said. The two were taken to Temple University Hospital. Their conditions were unknown.

The third male eluded a pursuing officer in the 2700 block of Coral Street and tried to disappear along the neighboring tracks, police said. He dumped a handgun under a car before disappearing. He was later captured along the tracks near the 2700 block of Frankford Avenue. - Robert Moran
