A 22-year-old man was shot in the neck and critically wounded during an apparent robbery early Monday in Northeast Philadelphia's Oxford Circle section, police said.

The victim was sitting with a laptop computer in the driver's seat of a car with two other males inside about 1:10 a.m. when a man walked up to the vehicle on the 6500 block of Souder Street, police said.

The man then grabbed the laptop and, during a struggle, shot the victim, police said. The gunman fled and the other males in the car flagged down a police car.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Aria Health's Torresdale Campus and then transferred to Jefferson University Hospital, where he was reported in critical condition, police said. Initial police reports said the wounded man was paralyzed.
