The badly decomposed body of a man was recovered by investigators Wednesday morning from a bed of rocks behind the Crum Creek Valley Condominiums in Wallingford.
The body was headless, but investigators found a head with a noose on the other side of the creek, said a law enforcement source who was not authorized to speak for publication.
Dental records will be needed to determine the man’s identity, the source said. Investigators were combing the creek and bank for evidence.
The body was taken to the Delaware County coroner, the source said.
Nether Providence Township Police Chief Thomas Flannery released a statement saying his department, the Delaware County Criminal Investigation Division, and the county Medical Examiner’s Office were investigating.
Crum Creek Valley consists of two seven-story buildings with covered parking garages. They are at 800 Avondale Rd., off Chester Road, according to a Reichert Realtor website.
