An arrest warrant has been issued for a 24-year-old man in the Christmas Day shooting death of another man in a Cheltenham Township home, officials announced Tuesday.
Police said jealously was the motive that prompted Rayshon Carwheel to kill Robens Borno inside the house in the 1400 block of Beech Avenue in the Melrose Park section.
Borno, 25, of Philadelphia, was wrapping gifts with his new girlfriend and her mother in the dining room of their home in the early hours of Sunday when Carwheel barged in with another man and opened fire on the victim.
"Oh, this is why you couldn't answer the phone," Carwheel said to the girlfriend, who is the mother of Carwheel's child and who broke up with him in early December, according to officials.
Called to the home about 1:55 a.m., police found Borno bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite efforts by paramedics and doctors to save him, Borno died about a half-hour later at Albert Einstein Medical Center.
Carwheel fled in a car that was found later Sunday in West Oak Lane, police said.
Anyone with information about Carwheel's whereabouts should call Cheltenham Police at 215-885-1600, Ext. 499 or the Montgomery County Detective Bureau at 610-278-3368.
Carwheel is believed armed and dangerous, and police say members of the public should not confront him.
