Another round of tire-slashings in Northeast

Authorities are investigating yet another report of slashed tires in Northeast Philadelphia - this time in the Oxford Circle section.

Authorities are investigating yet another report of slashed tires in Northeast Philadelphia - this time in the Oxford Circle section.

Police responding to a call around 1:35 a.m. Sunday of a woman walking near the 1200 block of McKinley Street discovered tires had been slashed on nine vehicles.

The tires were slashed a day after police announced a break - video of a possible suspect - in the long-perplexing case that has plagued automobile owners in the Northeast since the fall. Since October, tires have been slashed on 70 to 80 vehicles, many in the Holmesburg/Mayfair area, police said.

On Thursday alone, nine vehicles were vandalized. Surveillance video taken at 9:30 that night that police made public Saturday shows a short-haired white man in his late teens to early 20s. He was wearing a blue shirt, dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and white sneakers.

Police said based on the video footage, he was likely left-handed.
