A Montgomery Township neighborhood was on lockdown for several hours Wednesday as a SWAT team tried to make contact with a 47-year-old man whom they believed to be barricaded and armed inside his home.
Several residents were evacuated from the block of Longwood Place in the Neshaminy Falls neighborhood from about 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., when officers entered the residence and found the man dead in the living room. Police did not immediately release his identity.
The incident began when the man's mother came into the police station to report a conflict with her son, according to Montgomery Township police. She said they had gotten in an argument and, when she tried to call 911, her son disconnected the phone. She was trying to reconnect it when her son pointed a gun at her, according to police. She fled, fearing for her life, police said.
Police tried to contact the man. SWAT teams surrounded the residence.
