School board seeking new member

WEST CHESTER The West Chester Area school board is looking to fill a vacant seat after it accepted its vice president's resignation last week.

In her resignation letter, Karen Miller, who had two years left on the board, said she was resigning for unspecified personal reasons. Her son, Robert Peters Miller, 31, was arrested last month and faces 16 felony counts for possession of child pornography and related charges.

The images and videos were found on hard drives at the East Goshen home he shared with his mother.

"I need to focus my attention toward my family as it is going through a very difficult time right now," Karen Miller wrote in her letter.

The district will interview candidates at a special public board meeting Monday and at its Dec. 16 meeting if necessary. The board will elect a new member immediately after the final interview.

That process is how Miller got elected in 2011. After that term ended, she ran for and won the four-year term she was serving when she resigned.
