CHELTENHAM An Elkins Park woman waived her preliminary hearing in a district court Thursday on charges that she killed her husband by stabbing him in the heart. The case moves to Montgomery County Court.

Ny Baker, 52, faces first-degree murder and other charges associated with the death of Darryl Baker, 48. An autopsy ruled the death a homicide.

On Nov. 21 at 11:35 p.m., the county Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from Ny Baker reporting that her husband had been stabbed in their Overhill Road home, according to a court document.

The call transcript showed that Baker told the dispatcher that she had wielded a knife, later determined to be a steak knife. When the dispatcher asked Baker where the stab wound was, she replied: "In the chest, because he was hitting me, over, over and I say, I told him don't hit me or I stab you in a minute."

Baker has been in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility since Nov. 22 after bail was denied. Her formal arraignment on the charges is scheduled for Jan. 15.
