Mercer Museum to feature Route 66 exhibit

DOYLESTOWN Seven classic cars, including a 1969 Mercedes once owned by Elvis Presley, will be on display beginning May 31 in an exhibit called "America's Road: The Journey of Route 66" at the Mercer Museum.

Using stories, artifacts, a photo essay, and interactive experiences, the exhibit will showcase the important role Route 66, the famed 2,448-mile highway, played in shaping the United States as an avenue for migrants, tourists, and travelers of all sorts.

"Nearly every aspect of 20th-century United States history is reflected in the story of the people and events along the highway," Mercer Museum executive director Doug Dolan said in a statement.

The exhibit is scheduled to run through Aug. 24, and admission is included with a museum ticket: $12 for adults, $10 for seniors 65 and over, $6 for youths 6 to 17, and free for children 5 and under and for members.
