Workshops offered on sexual violence prevention

WEST CHESTER The Sexual Violence Prevention Network of Chester County will host two workshops next month aimed at helping athletic coaches promote respectful behavior among their players.

The program, called "Coaching Boys to Men," also focuses on how coaches can help prevent harassment, sexual assault, and relationship abuse.

"Athletic coaches play an extremely influential and unique role in the lives of young men, often serving as a role model or mentor to the boys they coach," Jeanne Casner, the county's health director, said in a statement. "Because of these special relationships, coaches are uniquely poised to positively influence how young men think and behave both on and off the field."

The free events will be held Nov. 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Nov. 19 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Chester County Government Services Center, 601 Westtown Rd., West Chester. Registration is required and open until Nov. 12. More information is available by calling 610-344-5209 or e-mailing - Tricia L. Nadolny
