A Camden man was fatally shot Tuesday night while sitting in his car outside Centennial Village Apartments in Camden, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Camden County Metro Police were called to Centennial Drive about 9:30 p.m. after residents in the area heard gunshots. Officers found Wallys Sanchez, 38, in the driver's seat of a 1994 Toyota Camry in front of Building 22. Sanchez had been shot once and was pronounced dead at the scene. The engine was running, authorities said.

Andy McNeil, a spokesman for the Prosecutor's Office, said detectives did not have any suspects. The slaying is the 42d reported this year, compared with 50 during the same period last year.
