Widener earns another community service award from government

CHESTER Widener University has again been named to the 2014 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the school announced.

The school was one of 766 named. It was honored "With Distinction" in the General Community Service and Education Community Service categories.

"It is truly an honor to be recognized year after year for our civic engagement efforts in the communities we serve," Widener president James T. Harris III said in a statement.

Four projects that stood out were the Widener Partnership Charter School, the Chester Upland Soccer for Success Program, the Widener School of Law Clinics, and the College Access Center of Delaware County.
