Merger creates YMCA of Greater Brandywine

WEST CHESTER Nine YMCA sites in Chester County will be part of one regional association, the

YMCA of Greater Brandywine.

The two previous associations, the YMCAs of the Brandywine Valley and of the Upper Main Line, will merge as of Thursday, according to a statement.

"Uniting our two associations will increase opportunities to expand and strengthen Y programs and services," said president and CEO Denise L. Day in the statement.

The association will include more than 80,000 members at nine existing locations, two in West Chester and one each in Coatesville, Exton, West Grove, Atglen, Kennett Square, Berwyn, and Malvern.

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine has waived joining fees in January to celebrate the merger.
