A South Jersey neurologist is facing additional charges after alleged inappropriate touching of patients during exams.
Egg Harbor Township police said dozens of additional victims came forward after Syed Jaffery was first charged in December.
The victims described unwanted sexual contact during exams at his office, Premier Neurology, 3069 English Creek Ave.
Jaffery was originally charged with three counts of criminal sexual contact in cases involving three victims.
Police said Friday that the neurologist is facing additional charges that include one count of sexual assault, 20 counts of sexual contact, 13 counts of harassment by offensive touching, and three counts of lewdness. Those cases involve 22 different victims, police said.
Since December, 40 alleged victims have contacted detectives, with 28 ultimately giving statements to police. Law enforcement officials were able to file charges in 22 cases, with alleged crimes involving six victims beyond the statute of limitations, police said.
Jaffery turned himself in to face the charges and was released on $100,000 bail, police said.
Officials said the investigation is continuing and anyone with information should call police at 609-926-4129.
