An employee at an armored car company in Moorestown shot and wounded a coworker Monday before turning the gun on himself.
Edgar Figueroa, 42, was found dead outside Shields Business Solutions at 5 Twosome Dr. shortly after 7 a.m. Police said he and Melvin Nieves, 31, were arguing inside the building when Figueroa pulled out a gun and chased Nieves.
Figueroa shot Nieves four times, police said, before shooting himself in the parking lot.
Police described the dispute as an "ongoing domestic situation" but would not elaborate.
Nieves was flown to Cooper University Hospital, where he remained in critical condition Monday evening.
Nieves has worked at Shields since March 2014, and Figueroa had been employed there since May. Both are from Philadelphia.
"An unspeakable tragedy unfolded here this morning and, first and foremost, we'd like the families of those involved to know that our thoughts and prayers are with them," Shields said in a statement. It said it would provide grief counselors.
The company is based in Moorestown. It moves cash in armored vehicles and distributes ATMs.
Employees are asked to check their weapons when they enter the building, and it was unclear how Figueroa brought a weapon inside, Police Lt. Lee Lieber said. He said he did not know whether the weapon used was company-issued or personal.
Nieves did not have a weapon, Lieber said, adding that authorities were interviewing other employees at the scene.
Figueroa's and Nieves' families could not be located for comment Monday.
The incident was the second case of deadly workplace violence in the Philadelphia area in the last week. On Wednesday, a man fatally stabbed a coworker at a Franconia meatpacking plant in retaliation for a prank, according to Montgomery County prosecutors.
