Three women to be honored

MEDIA A woman who lobbied for a change in lung transplant rules will be inducted into the Women's Commission Hall of Fame as part of Women's History Month.

Janet Murnaghan of Newtown Square fought to change age restrictions so daughter Sarah, who has cystic fibrosis, could be eligible to receive organs from an adult when she was 11.

Two other women will be honored posthumously. Alice Maris Bird Baird founded a real estate firm out of her Swarthmore home during the Depression, and Catherine Down Judge, wife of Tom Judge, former chairman of the Delaware County Republican Party, was known for her compassion and willingness to help others.

The ceremony will take place during the group's annual breakfast at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Towne House in Media.
