A husband and wife were found dead Sunday afternoon in their Northampton, Bucks County home, police said. They were identified by neighbors as Boris and Ena Sereda.

Northampton Township police were called to the scene on Lempa Road - a community of split-level houses - about 3:50 p.m. by a neighbor who reported a possible suicide, authorities said.

Officers found the bodies of the couple, who were in their 60s, on the second floor of the house. A handgun was also located, police said.

A neighbor said the couple owned a jewelry store in Center City and were well-liked in the neighborhood. Neighbors would shovel the couple's sidewalk in winter and check in on them from time to time. They had several grandchildren they doted on, a neighbor said.

Boris Sereda, the neighbor said, had been ill for some time, and his condition had recently deteriorated.

Northampton Police Chief Michael Clark confirmed the public was not at any risk.

The county coroner would determine the manner and cause of death, Clark said.
