Police were called to the home of Larry Rothenberger, 58, and his wife, Mary Ellen Curry, 56, at 11:20 a.m. Saturday when friends expressed concern that they had not heard from the couple for a few days, the Bucks County Courier Times reported.

Inside, police found Curry dead of a gunshot wound in the bathroom and Rothenberger dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the bedroom. The two dogs, who were found in the kitchen, were also shot. A 40-caliber handgun was found at the scene.

Sgt. Ken Hawthorn of the Warrington police said, "We think it was an isolated family issue that ended tragically. The gun was registered to Rothenberger, he said.
