2 arrested in Chesco on dog-fighting charges

Two Chester County residents have been charged under a new state law with animal cruelty and possessing dog-fighting equipment, the Chester County SPCA announced Friday.
Dowayne Molina, 37, and Teresa Campos, 33, both of the 400 block of West Fourth Avenue, Parkesburg, also were arrested on drug charges.
On Oct. 15 sate parole agents discovered animal-fighting equipment during a routine visit to the residence. They then contacted the SPCA.
SPCA officers seized five adult pit-bull-type adult dogs and seven puppies. The dogs showed injuries to their faces and bodies consistent with dogfighting, the SPCA said.
Molina was being held at the Chester County jail after failing to post bail. Campos was released on unsecured bail.
The law prohibiting possession of animal fighting paraphernalia, adrenaline-boosting drugs, and blood clotting agents, as well as equipment used to condition dogs for fighting, was signed by Gov. Wolf on July 10 and took effect on Sept. 10.
