Mayor Michael Speck asked the Phoenixville Borough Council again Tuesday night for something that has been on the Police Department's wish list for more than five months: a drone.
Speck and the police failed to get their wish as council members voted, 5-3, to deny the department's request for a drone.
Borough police received a donation in July to buy one, but council members expressed doubts about the need for it and apprehension over potential liabilities and privacy concerns.
Phoenixville is one of a handful of municipalities in Chester County that either have or plan to buy drones.
The council said it would take up the issue again next year, after new members are sworn in.
