Police: Man stabbed by ex-wife outside West Philly home

A man was stabbed by his ex-wife after opening the door to his home on the 5700 block of Market Street in West Philadelphia early Saturday, police said.

A 36-year-old man was stabbed by his ex-wife on the front steps of his West Philadelphia home early Saturday, police said.

The man was with another woman inside his home along the 5700 block of Market Street shortly after 3 a.m., when his ex-wife called him on his cell phone and asked him to come to the front door so the two could talk, police said.

When the man opened the door, his ex stabbed him once in his right shoulder with a steak knife, according to investigators.

Medics rushed the man to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was treated for a large laceration and placed in stable condition.

His ex-wife fled the scene before officers arrived and remained at large Saturday afternoon, police said. Her identity was not released.
