Six die, officer injured in crash
A police cruiser responding to a robbery report, lights flashing and siren blaring, struck a car at an intersection northwest of Ohio's capital Friday, killing six members of a family and injuring an officer.
Police said cruiser dash-camera video shows the victims' Toyota Corolla had a red light when it reached the intersection and came to a stop.
Chief Robert Oppenheimer identified the dead as driver Eid Badi Shahad, 39; his wife, Entisar W. Hameed, 31; and their daughters, ages 2 to 16. The family, refugees from Iraq, came to the United States three years ago, said a caseworker for Community Refugee and Immigration Services. The officer, Shawn Paynter, joined the department five years ago. - AP
