In the aftermath of Sandy, one of the most-photographed sights was the JetStar roller coaster rising out of the water off Seaside Heights. The coaster was dismantled in May, coinciding with Prince Harry's visit to the Shore. In the photo taken Nov. 1, 2012, other attractions are still standing on what remains of the boardwalk. But, said Maria Mastoris, spokeswoman for the private company that runs Casino Pier, "that does not mean it's recoverable." The damage was so severe, every single board was replaced, as seen in the Oct. 21, 2013, photo. "We had to pretty much demolish the entire pier," Mastoris said. The lower deck was rebuilt by Memorial Day and was open this summer, but the rest of the upper-deck section of the pier, where the crane sits in the more recent photo, won't be completed until next summer.
