Charges in attempt to sell her baby son

A Mississippi woman has been arrested for allegedly offering to sell her infant son to a woman she met through an online classified ad.

Bobbie Jo Stojic, 23, of Bay St. Louis, on the gulf, was freed on $5,000 bond after her Oct. 29 arrest on a felony charge, authorities said.

Stojic allegedly offered to sell her 4-month-old son for $5,000 in a text message that she sent last month to a woman from Kenner, La., who had answered her Craigslist ad for baby clothes, a court filing said.

Hancock County Sheriff's Office Detective Brandon Normand said the women had been discussing the costs of legally adopting a child.

"That kind of planted the seed for Stojic to either sell her child or attempt to scam the woman," he said. Stojic had mentioned in the texts that she was having money problems and was in danger of being evicted. Normand said Stojic denied the allegations. - AP

Tougher pilot training

Prodded by the families of people killed in a regional airline crash, federal officials on Tuesday issued significantly tougher training requirements for pilots. One of the most important changes requires airlines to provide better training on how to prevent and recover from an aerodynamic stall. That was what happened to Continental Express Flight 3407, which crashed Feb. 12, 2009, on approach to the Buffalo airport, killing all 49 aboard and a man on the ground. - AP
