Cause sought in deadly fire

FIRE INVESTIGATORS are trying to find out what started a Delaware County blaze that killed a woman and left a man and three children in the hospital.

FIRE INVESTIGATORS are trying to find out what started a Delaware County blaze that killed a woman and left a man and three children in the hospital.

Authorities said the Lower Chichester Township fire was reported shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday, and the house was engulfed in flames by the time crews arrived.

Ryan Fuller, chief of the Lower Chichester Volunteer Fire Department, said everyone was able to get out except for a 62-year-old woman, who was found dead.

Two adults and five children were taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center. One man was reported in critical but stable condition.

Hospital spokeswoman Katrina Stier said the three children who remained in the hospital were expected to be sent home in a day or so.

Fuller said many people have donated food, toys and supplies for the family.
