Philly gets set to share bikes

PHILADELPHIA officials say the city's bike-share program will begin next month. Mayor Nutter said the system will launch at noon on April 23 with an event at Eakins Oval that will feature music, brief remarks and a ceremonial ride.

Mayor Nutter said the system will launch at noon on April 23 with an event at Eakins Oval that will feature music, brief remarks and a ceremonial ride.

Officials said the program sponsored will include 600 bicycles with a network of 70 docking stations around the city that will operate 24 hours a day all year.

Bike-share users will be able to get a bike at any station and return it to any other station by using a member card or a credit or debit card.

Nutter said in a statement that "Great cities provide residents, commuters, and visitors with great transportation and recreation options."
