Kamron T. Taylor fled from the Jerome Combs Detention Center in Kankakee early Wednesday. Kankakee County Sheriff Timothy Bukowski said Taylor somehow escaped from his cell, hid inside the facility, then beat and choked the guard who was making rounds.

Bukowski said Taylor, a 23-year-old from Kankakee, is considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities had issued an alert for the teenager, believing she was with the inmate. Illinois State Police did not say whether she had been with Taylor. - AP
