AUTHORITIES SAY gunfire killed one man and critically injured another in the early morning hours in North Philadelphia.

Police said officers responded to a report of a person with a gun shortly after 4:30 a.m. yesterday and found a 35-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. He was next to his car, which had the keys in the ignition and the driver's door open. He was pronounced dead minutes later at Temple University Hospital.

Earlier, about 3 a.m., a man reported seeing another man walking in the middle of Lindley Avenue clutching his chest. He said he had been shot, so the witness drove him to Einstein Medical Center, where the 43-year-old victim was reported in critical condition with two gunshot wounds.

No arrests had been reported in either case.
