Camden man convicted in fatal 2006 shootout

A 21-year-old man was convicted yesterday of killing a Camden man in 2006 in a shootout at a Crown Fried Chicken store in Camden.

A Superior Court jury found that Luis Pablo Ramos shot David Perez, 20, after they argued at the store in the 2400 block of Federal Street in September 2006. Ramos, of Camden, also wounded a 24-year-old man, who testified at Ramos' trial this week. Ramos could face life in prison, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Ramos was charged with murder and attempted murder in the week after the shooting, but evaded authorities until February 2007. He was captured by U.S. marshals in Pennsauken.

During this week's trial, a jury watched a video of the shooting. Along with the surviving victim, a second eyewitness also testified.
