Warrant issued for East Frankford man in slaying

Police said yesterday that they had issued a warrant for an East Frankford man charged with a July 4 murder in Kensington.

Dwayne Thorpe, 22, of the 4400 block of Paul Street in East Frankford, has been charged with murder, aggravated assault and related offenses in connection with the shooting death of Hamin Span, 30.

The victim was found at 11:46 p.m. on the 2000 block of East Elkhart Street in Kensington with wounds to his head, chest and neck. He died about a half hour later at Temple University Hospital, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call 911, the police tip line at 215-686-8477 (TIPS), or the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or -3335.
