Pedestrian struck, killed by car in Chesco

State police are investigating an accident in which a man was struck and killed while trying to cross a busy highway in southern Chester County. Donald Yeager, 67, of Avondale, was apparently grocery shopping when he tried to cross Route 41 and was hit by a car driven by Richard R. Wilson, 81, of Millville, N.J., said State Police Trooper Corey Monthei of the Avondale barracks. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Chester County Coroner Robert Satriale said that Yeager apparently died of multiple injuries. An autopsy was scheduled for last night. The incident happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday just south of the Baltimore Pike intersection. Monthei said that neither speed or alcohol appeared to be a factor. "It was just a tragic accident," he said. Police are asking that witnesses call them at 610-268-2022. - Nancy Petersen
