Police: Student, 18, abducted, later found safe

An 18-year-old student at Oxford Area High School was abducted from the school's parking lot Monday afternoon by her ex-boyfriend, but later was found unharmed, state police said yesterday.

Nicole Alexander was forced into the passenger seat of her car at 3:30 p.m. and driven around by a 17-year-old, Oxford-area youth, said Trooper Corey Monthei, public information officer at the Avondale Barracks.

Monthei said state police mounted an intensive search for Alexander's Chevrolet Cavalier, using air and ground patrols, with Oxford and Kennett Square Borough police assisting.

The car was located late Monday by state troopers, but Monthei declined to say where. The boyfriend, whose name was withheld by police because of his age, was taken into custody without incident.

"Everybody's fine," Monthei said.

The teen was being held at the Chester County Youth Center in West Chester yesterday on charges related to the abduction, Monthei said.
