Police say Burlco couple died in a suicide pact

An elderly Burlington County man shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself yesterday in what authorities said was a suicide pact.

George Megelsh, 79, and his wife, Lillian, 79, lived in a Mansfield gated community. They were found by a family member yesterday morning in their home on Covered Bridge Circle.

The couple left a suicide note, said Joel Bewley, a spokesman for the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office. He declined to comment on the contents of the note.

Both George and Lillian Megelsh were in poor health, authorities said.
