A 62-year-old pedestrian was struck by a car and killed this morning on N. Elwood Road near Greenbrook Drive in Evesham Township, police said.

Ahilefs Kalaitzi was walking south on the shoulder of N. Elwood, near his home, when he was hit at about 8:30 by a northbound car driven by Anthony Schepis III, 19, of Evesham, authorities said.

Officials said Kalaitzi was pronounced dead at Virtua Marlton Hospital. Schepis was treated for minor injuries at the hospital and released.

The incident remains under investigation, officials said. A police spokesman said it was the township's third pedestrian fatality this year.
