TRENTON - Tax Day has come and gone without Gov. Christie releasing his tax returns.
He and his wife received an extension and have until later this year to file. Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and her husband have already filed.
Previous governors from both parties have traditionally released the information by April 15, even when seeking more time. Christie's communications office says it "will be releasing the appropriate forms in the near future."
Christie and his wife earned nearly $449,000 in 2008 - up from about $373,000 in 2007. They paid nearly $119,000 in federal income tax and more than $24,000 to the state.
During his campaign, Christie said financial-disclosure reports required of statewide candidates should match federal reports by requiring more detail. - AP
