WAYNESBURG, Pa. - A former state prison in Greene County will reopen in mid-August as a drug- and alcohol-treatment center for prisoners nearing the end of their sentences.

The 510-bed facility, formerly the State Correction Institution at Waynesburg, will house nonviolent men with less than a year left on their sentence, Susan Bensinger, a state Department of Corrections spokeswoman, said Tuesday. The facility will employ 169 people.
