A former transportation company employee pleaded guilty Friday to bilking Burlington County for bus services to the elderly and disabled, according to the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.

Isaiah Davis, 62, of Clementon, who was a project manager at Laidlaw Transit Service in Cinnaminson, admitted that he charged the county roughly $32,956 for trips to Buttonwood Hospital in New Lisbon and the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center that were not provided, officials said.

He submitted false invoices and supporting documents for the services between March 2003 and February 2004, authorities said.

He must repay Burlington County the $32,956 and the state will recommend probation, officials said. Sentencing is set for Oct. 1. An investigation into Laidlaw's role in the fraud is ongoing, authorities said. - Darran Simon
