NEPTUNE, N.J. - A woman who lost consciousness while diving Saturday from a boat off the central New Jersey coast has died. It was not immediately clear how the 30-year-old diver was injured, and the cause of her death was not disclosed.

The woman, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead shortly after she arrived at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where a Coast Guard helicopter crew from Atlantic City took her.

A crew member aboard the Gypsy Blood, a 122-foot dive boat based in Brielle, called the Coast Guard around 11:20 a.m. to report that the diver had not resurfaced and had been missing for about 35 minutes. A dive master soon found her. - AP
