Off-duty police officer is arrested for DUI

An off-duty Philadelphia police officer was arrested for driving under the influence and getting into a minor accident early Sunday in the city's Feltonville section, police said.

Officer Peter Marrero, 46, was arrested at 3:14 a.m. after getting in a accident in the 4200 block of North American Street, police said. He was transported to the detention unit at Police Headquarters and given a breath test, which recorded him being above the legal definition of drunken driving. He was charged with driving under the influence.

Marrero, a 21-year veteran of the force, was reassigned from the 25th District to administrative duties pending the outcome of the criminal case. - Robert Moran
