A Deptford man was sentenced Friday to 26 years in state prison for fatally stabbing his neighbor in 2009, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said.
Donald D. Hetrick, 49, stabbed Roland Webster, 39, more than 12 times, then cleaned up and went to a bar, officials said. Hetrick argued that he had blacked out and could not remember the day Webster was killed, but a judge found him fit to stand trial.
Hetrick was charged with homicide on Feb. 20, a day after his mother discovered Webster's body in Hetrick's home. The victim's mother said her son had gone to pick up a dining table that Hetrick had sold him. Hetrick had been arrested Feb. 18 at a bar on unrelated assault and weapons charges.
