Haddonfield has its first new mayor in 12 years.

Jeff Kasko, 48, the deputy mayor, who was reelected last week to a second term on the Board of Commissioners, was tapped Monday evening by his fellow commissioners to be mayor, Borough Clerk Deanna Bennett said.

Kasko, who will remain director of revenue and finance, takes over the post Letitia "Tish" Colombi is vacating. She decided to not seek reelection.

"I'm very grateful to my fellow commissioners and to the voters of Haddonfield," Kasko said. "The outcome of this election is allowing me to become mayor, and I am thrilled and ready to hit the ground running, and I am excited to serve the next four years."

Traditionally, the top vote-getter is made mayor, and Kasko won the most votes. However, another commissioner could have been selected.

At noon Tuesday, the new commissioners officially take office.

In addition to Kasko, a state Health Department administrator, John Moscatelli, 45, a chemical engineer and stay-at-home father, will start his first term as a commissioner. The second-highest vote-getter, he will serve as deputy mayor and director of public works.

Joining them is Neal Rochford, 53, a printing industry consultant, who will reclaim the seat he lost by eight votes in 2009. He founded the Haddonfield Green Team, which was renamed Sustainable Haddonfield. He will be director of public safety.

The officeholders will have their formal swearing-in ceremony at 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday at the commissioners' meeting.
