Pennsauken charity concert canceled

PENNSAUKEN A holiday concert scheduled for Saturday to benefit Pennsauken Neighbors Helping Neighbors, or PNHN, has been canceled due to the impending snowstorm.

PENNSAUKEN A holiday concert scheduled for Saturday to benefit Pennsauken Neighbors Helping Neighbors, or PNHN, has been canceled due to the impending snowstorm.

Organizers said the venue, Pennsauken High School, has canceled all activities, including the concert by the South Jersey Pops Orchestra. They said it appeared unlikely that the concert can be rescheduled before Christmas.

The orchestra had planned to perform Saturday afternoon to help raise funds for the neighborhood charity that lends assistance to Pennsauken residents.

PNHN raises funds to help needy families by providing grants of up to $1,000 to ease hardships brought on by illness, job loss, or other emergencies. The payment is made directly to their creditor.

A Sunday concert by the orchestra, comprised of amateur musicians from South Jersey, is still scheduled for Lenape High School in Medford, but also could be impacted by the weather, a spokesman said. Tickets already purchased will be refunded or good for a future concert.
