SOUTHAMPTON The Southampton Free Library on Monday will recognize 35 students in grades one through nine for the original books and illustrations they submitted in the library's annual book contest. Nearly 200 students entered their work.
The public is invited to the 4:30 p.m. awards reception. Each winning book will be bound and added to the library's permanent collection.

The library recently launched a capital endowment campaign to help renovate and refurbish sections of the building and to expand and enhance programming for children and adults. The campaign goal is $575,000. - Ben Finley
