BCCC to offer metalwork training
BRISTOL Bucks County Community College will hold an information session Wednesday about the free metalwork training program it will offer to under- or unemployed county residents in July.
The 12-week program, funded through a grant from the Bucks County commissioners, offers classes four days a week and a fifth day of tours or field trips. Those who complete the program will be prepared to take a national metalworkers certification exam, according to the college.
To qualify, entrants must be county residents 18 or older with a high school diploma or GED, have a reliable way to get to training and field trips, and must pass a drug and alcohol screening and background check.
The session will be held at the Lower Bucks Campus, 1304 Veterans Hwy., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Bucks County's unemployment rate in April was just under 5 percent, down from about 7 percent last year.
