Man charged with injuring fiancee's 2-year-old

A Gloucester County man has been charged with critically injuring his fiancée's 2-year-old son, authorities said Monday. Giovanni Crucitti, 23, of Sewell, was charged with attempted murder, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated assault, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release.

Crucitti was being held in custody on $350,000 bail set by Superior Court Judge Robert Becker.

According to the news release, the Washington Township boy was treated at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia on Christmas Day for numerous injuries and kidney failure. He was listed in critical condition over the weekend but had stabilized, the release said.

The child's mother, whose name was not released, is Crucitti's fiancee, the Prosecutor's Office said.

No additional information was released on the nature of the assault or the circumstances surrounding it.
